Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The stats of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment boosts a stat linearly.
Players can recycle six items at one time to gauge the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling items scales with their rarity and item level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to boost the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways such as using upgrade components or increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. Additionally to this, many items can be reforged to boost their stats even more.
Upgradeable items can be found throughout the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be made by players. Upgrade components are the most common method to upgrade equipment. These are the items that can slot into equipment. Most equipment has slots to upgrade, and many require a certain amount of upgrade. Certain upgrade components offer specific bonuses while others give general bonuses.
There are many types of upgrade components available in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gems and enchantments, are able to be used in any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than those that are equipment-type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools, and provide various benefits, from increasing the speed of the item's collection to supplying additional crafting materials.
To upgrade an item, select it in your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right-hand side of the screen. It will display the expected stats following the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will show Blocked if you don't have enough of either.
The number of upgrade components needed for a given item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. The cost of an upgrade increases with the level of upgrade and rarity, but it can be reduced using various methods, such as buying upgrades from a vendor or trading them to other players.
Almost all weapons can be upgraded by the use of a prefix upgrade, such as an insignia, or a rune. Many are upgraded by suffix upgrades. item upgrades add an adjective to the item's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs are an effective tool for communicating visual information. They are animated to grab the attention of the viewers and trigger curiosity in the brain. The animation of glyphs resembles the body language, making them more effective in transmitting an inter-linguistic message. Glyphs can also increase the recall of the message by triggering a familiarity in the brain.
Each glyph increases a stat's value by a specific amount. This is shown on the item's page when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This range is the maximum value that a glyph can improve a stat by and not the amount it will actually increase the stat by. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier as well as the quality of the item that you are in awe of.
Most upgrade components slotted into items cannot be repaired or replaced without removing the gear in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. However, if you have a rune or glyph that hasn't yet been incorporated into your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece of gear by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu within the Glyphs panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
If you wish to remove a glyph from an item you must salvage it with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item on which the glyph is installed will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be recovered by removing the glyph fragments.
Adding a glyph to an item can cause it to become unstable, and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory when you dismantle the item. You can also put an inscription to your equipment to increase its value. Deferred Damage, for example can store damage, and then be dealt slowly to the wearer instead of all at one time. This can be helpful for players who take a lot of damage from their enemies however do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens allow players to alter the affixes on their weapons and equipment, and can be found in a variety of ways like mistery boxes or as an uncommon drop from skulled creatures, or from killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player an affix randomly chosen and usually better than what they had before. Reroll tokens are also a great option to reroll stats on weapons, which can be upgraded for better damage or additional perks.
Items that have been rerolled do not appear in the upgrade menu, however they are still eligible to receive upgrades. By pressing the "upgrade button", you can recycle these recycled items. This will change the layout of the item's window, and allow up to six items to be chosen for recycling. Recycling an item can add a small amount of points to its level gauge. This amount is determined by the item's rarity and its level, which means items with higher levels are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.
In addition to tokens for rerolls players can also make use of Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to roll the traits of a weapon in an upgraded unit. This effect of lowering is most effective on Diadems and rings that do not have any competing ilvl-raising options.
item upgrades has been criticized by players for being too expensive, and it would be more equitable to let players pay for it in the form of money or a food item which would allow players to modify their build without wasting time and effort. However paying for rerolls is not something the developers are planning to implement at this time in the game's development. They are planning to add an ingredient that allows players to alter their race in the future.
Leveling
There are a number of ways to level up an upgrade to an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade, which increases the upgrade value of a given stat. The second is to increase the upgrade effect that increases the damage or heal of a particular stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will maintain its iLevel, but have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.
When you upgrade items, it is important to remember that upgrades aren't always planned. If you're lucky, your upgraded item will be at the maximum level of its upgrade track and unlock an additional benefit. This will result in a significant increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect changes with each upgrade level. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased a value of +3.
The iLevel can also change in accordance with the item's upgrade path and base level. For example an item that has been upgraded from a unique or rare to an extraordinary item will have a chance to be upgraded to the Enhanced Defense of the new base type of item.
